Description

*Disclaimer: This picture is not a photograph, it is not a photomanipulation, it is a drawn piece of art by me in Photoshop. I do not have progressive saves of this one, but I do of other digital pieces I have done in my scraps folder here: [link] Feel free to go and browse through. Thank you.*

Ok PLEASE be very very kind here. I broke out my wacom tablet for the very first time. I did some sketching and playing around, and then I got brave and actually did something. :P I have been wanting to work with colors for a while now, and I finally got the nerve up to do it. Now, I really like the digital brush because if I really screw up I can just hit undo! The wacom tablet makes it so much easier than trying to do things with a stupid mouse!

Some notes: I do not do color very often, and I don't draw on the computer very often, and I have never used my wacom tablet before. Soooooo. There are things I have no idea how to do. For instance, I was trying to shade the stupid mask, but I kept messing it up. The hair doesn't look real but no matter hwat brush I tried to use it never looked right. I figure, he is an anime character, so screw it. Also like I know you can see my brush strokes in there, but I didn't know how to make it smooth like so many artists on here have. Any suggestions or tricks would be greatly appreciated. This was like two hundred layers or something, I didn't want to mess anything up so I kept just adding layers and adding layers. It got kinda ridiculous. I would finally merge and then start adding new layers hehe.

I referenced the pose from here: [link]

Yes yes, I know it doesn't really look like the original, I was using it as a reference though :P So be kind. But, he has a European type eye and I needed an Asian one, so I referenced the eye from here: [link]

I just used it to get the general shape, though to me it still doesn't look like an asian eye no matter what I did. I also know you can see my high lights and I couldn't figure out how to smooth them into the picture.

All in all it is ok. I had NO idea how to draw his scar, so that looks wonky and I couldn't get his metal headband to not be so damn shiny. But, in the end it wasn't a total disaster.

ANY kinda help on how to smooth the brush strokes out or make the high lights not be so noticable would be wonderful! Also how to make hair look more realistic, b/c I suck at that apparently hehe.

Be kind? -winces-
